Online explanatory dictionary of Uzbek

The Ball.uz explanatory dictionary helps you understand Uzbek words and choose words that fit your text. Its focus is what a word means and how it is used. Use it while reading, preparing lessons, writing an article or looking up an unfamiliar term.

Enter a word or part of a word in Latin or Cyrillic, then open the relevant result. When there is no exact match, similar spellings may be suggested in some cases. A spelling suggestion does not guarantee the meaning you intended, so read the selected definition too.

Each word page shows the meanings available in the database. Multiple meanings appear as separate items. Usage examples and word origins are included where available. Not every entry has every section: a missing example or etymology does not mean that the word is incorrect.

Use the alphabet to filter by initial letter. The list is divided into pages with up to 30 entries each. The Latin and Cyrillic controls change the script, not the language. The Russian and English interfaces also present an Uzbek dictionary with definitions in Uzbek.

Each word has a dedicated address that you can copy and share. When the same word exists in the spelling dictionary, its page includes a link between the two dictionaries. This lets you check meaning and spelling together. A word missing from the database is not automatically wrong: the dictionary does not guarantee every term or inflected form.

How is this different from a spelling dictionary?

An explanatory dictionary describes meanings and provides available examples and word origins. A spelling dictionary helps you check a word’s written form and available spelling information.

Can I search in Cyrillic?

Yes. Enter an Uzbek word in Latin or Cyrillic. The script controls change how the result is written; they do not translate its definition into English.

Why do some words have no examples or origins?

These sections appear only when the database contains that information. A missing section does not mean the word is incorrect.

What should I do if a word is not found?

Check its spelling, try part of the word or use the other script. Compare any suggested similar words. Not every word or suffixed form is guaranteed to be present.

Can I share a link to just one word?

Yes. Open the word page and use its copy-link button. The address opens that entry rather than the full list.
